PS4 update 1.70 – Brings SHAREfactory Video Editor, HDCP Toggle On/Off and more!

Hey Gamenologers!

So the PS4 1.70 update has been going round the internet for quite some time now and in this post we will highlight some of the best ones!

SHAREfactory Video Editor

Included in the 1.70 update is SHAREfactory, Sony’s new rich video editor for the PS4.

You can now do some really cool stuff like adding filters, transitions and themes. SHAREfactory also allows you to share your videos with your friends and social networks. You can also add text, stickers and audio tracks, either from the app or with your own music (Just be careful not to get into copyright problems!). You can record your voiceover into your video as well as your camera feed from the PS Camera.

Done with your editing? You can easily upload your videos to Facebook, or you can export your video to a USB storage device so you can upload them anywhere such as YouTube, but we think that YouTube uploading should be available in the app itself as not everyone watches videos on Facebook.

Here is a video showcasing the best of the SHAREfactory video editor.

An Enhanced SHARE Button

You can now change the recording time of your gameplay to shorter increments, who you share with and the removal of default saves  for screenshots and videos.

HDCP Toggle On/Off

The feature that everybody has been asking for! HDCP Off! There will now be an option to turn off HDCP, so now you can record your gameplay with your capture card, PVR or whatever equipment you have as you please.

Play a new game the moment it’s released

If you have set up your auto download settings correctly, you can download your preordered PS4 Games up to 4 days prior to release, and it will be available to play the moment it’s released. Great news for gamers who want to get their hands on their new game without having to wait!

As a team we feel that as of this time of writing, the 1.70 update is one of the best updates Sony has provided to PS4 Gamers. What do you think about the update? Leave your comments in the comments below.

That’s all for now, and tune in next time for more news!
