Oracle ditches Java browser plugin

The Java browser plugin came out in the 90s to bring app like features to browsers. But it has been a nuisance to users as it had many security issues. Modern browsers have started to restrict the use of plugin support such as Java Applets and have moved to Java Web Start technology.

Mozilla stated last year that they would remove the plugin such as Java and Microsoft Silverlight by the end of they year, whereas Microsoft and Google have removed the support plugins on their latest browsers.

At the moment it is hard to say when the browser plugins will be completely wiped out. But businesses that rely on Java might use it on compatible browsers.
