LG announces the G5 And Friends

LG today has announced their newest flagship phone, the G5 at the Mobile World Congress 2016.

The LG G5 features a metal body with an “invisibly integrated antenna”. One cool thing that LG did is with the removable battery. You simply grab the bottom of the phone and slide it out to take out the battery. We have never seen that before!

The display is 5.3″ which is a Quad HD IPS Quantum Display with a curved glass surface. LG claims the screen to have a higher brightness than the G4.

In the camera department, the phone features an 8 MP “selfie camera” and two cameras at the back, a standard 78-degree 16MP lens and a 135-degree wide-angle 8MP lens. Perfect for landscapes!

The specs are pretty impressive. It packs in a Qualcomm Snapdragon 820, (which hopefully doesn’t heat up like the 810) 4 GB RAM, 32 GB internal storage and a microSD card slot supporting up to 2 TB!!! However the battery capacity has been reduced to 2800 mAh, so let’s see how it performs in real day-to-day usage.

It also features a fingerprint scanner, NFC, USB Type C with Qualcomm Quick Charge 3.0 support. The phone comes with Android 6.0.1 preinstalled.

The phone will be available in silver, titan, gold and pink.

Along with the G5, LG has also announced the G5 Friends, which are basically accessories.

The CAM Plus adds more grip to the device which is useful for taking photos. It includes special camera buttons as well as an extra battery pack containing 1200 mAh.

The 360 VR is a VR goggle which connects to the G5 and simulates a 130″ TV.

The 360 CAM is a camera add-on packing two 13 MP 200 degree wide-angle lenses, 3 microphones, 4 GB memory and 1200 mAh battery.

The Rolling Bot is a ball which rolls around and captures 8 MP photos.

Other accessories include the TONE Platinum Bluetooth earphones, the H3 by B&O Play wired earphones, and the Smart Controller for drones.
