If you have QuickTime installed on your Windows PC, you should probably uninstall it right away.
Trend Micro has announced in a blog post that Apple will no longer release security updates for the Windows version of QuickTime and advises users to uninstall it.
The Zero Day Initiative released two advisories, marked ZDI-16-241 and ZDI-16-242, detailing two critical vulnerabilities. These advisories were released in accordance with the Zero Day Initiative’s Disclosure Policy for when a software vendor doesn’t issue a security patch for a disclosed vulnerability. And since Apple will not be patching these vulnerabilities anytime soon, it is better to uninstall it.
Right now there are no active attacks, but still, to play safe, uninstall it from your Windows systems. QuickTime for Windows now joins Windows XP and Java 6 as unsupported software.
