Nintendo’s Wii U seems to be having a short life compared to their portable 3DS console. Reggie Fils-Aime, president of Nintendo America confirmed that Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild will be the last first party coming to the Wii U.
“From a first-party standpoint, there’s no new development coming after the launch of the legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. We really are at the end of life for Wii U.”
Wii U games will continue to be sold at retail stores and on the Nintendo eShop. Online services will continue to be available.
In March of last year, Miyamoto told Time that “Planet Giant Robot” was something that was started as a second project, and wasn’t yet decided whether it will be turned into a full game.
Breath of the Wild arrives on Wii U and the new Nintendo Switch console on March 3.
